God and the Hungry

The Chaplains of The Claremont Colleges and the Athenaeum are honored to host Archbishop Roger Mahony on October 10 as keynote speaker for the Conference on Hunger and Homelessness, sponsored by the Office of the Chaplains and Hillel of The Claremont Colleges. A native Californian, Archbishop Mahony was installed as the fourth archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles in September 1985. Throughout his distinguished ministry, he has been an advocate for people in need. He has served on numerous church and government committees, including the 1986 pontifical Commission for Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant Peoples and the 1987 federal Commission on Agricultural Works. In May 1988 he was appointed honorary co- chair of Californians Working Together to End Hunger and Homelessness. Archbishop Mahony will speak on the topic "God and the Hungry."
