Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the Career Services Center for?

The CSC is for everyone. It doesn't matter if you're a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior, we can help you find what you're looking for in our office. The earlier you become familiar with the services offered in the CSC the better! There is something here for everyone!

When does recruiting begin?

Recruiting begins very early in the Fall semester, so it is important to check with the Center as soon as possible to obtain the schedule on the Career Services calendar and to register on CMConnect; contact us for details. There is also recruiting in the Spring semester. Firms that recruit in the Fall semester do not necessarily come back on campus to recruit in the Spring semester.

Who recruits at Claremont McKenna College?

Over 300 employers participate in the 7-college joint recruiting program, with over 100 of them coming to CMC. One of the top ranked liberal arts colleges in the nation, CMC attracts many of the nation's best investment banks, consulting, and public accounting firms. Consumer product companies, manufacturers, retail corporations, information technology, marketing, and non-profit organizations round out the on-campus recruiting program. Let us know about your interests and needs and we'll help you connect!

How many students go on to Business, Professional, Law, and Medical School?

Approximately 21% of the 2008 CMC graduating class went directly to graduate school, with the largest percentage attending law school. Graduate school information and preparation materials are located in the CSC library.

Does CMC have an internship program?

Yes, CMC hosts employers on campus for internship interviewing, usually in the Spring. The CSC also has a myriad of other internship opportunities and can help you find or create an internship that fits you.  CMC sponsors paid summer internships throughout the Community Service Internship Program and the McKenna International Internship Program.  The CSC also works closely with the Kravis Leadership Institute to provide school-sponsored community service internships.

Do I have to make an appointment to see someone in the Career Services Center?

The CSC is staffed with student Career Consultants who are trained to assist students with all facets of the career development process. They can assist you on a walk-in basis. If you would like to see the Director or either of the Associate Directors, please email your availability and major to careerservices@cmc.edu or call x77038.
