Claremont McKenna College and CMS Athletics place the highest priority on the overall quality of its student-athletes educational experience and on the successful completion of each student’s academic program. The focus is to integrate objectives and programs in athletics with academic and developmental objectives by maintaining an environment in which a student’s athletic activities are conducted as an integral part of the student-athletes' educational experience.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is an NCAA Division III athletic program comprised of student-athletes from three of the Claremont Colleges: Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd and Scripps Colleges. CMS sponsors 21 men's (Stags) and women's (Athenas) sports. Our program has a long history of excellence, winning three team national championships (most recently, men’s tennis in 2015) and nearly 300 conference championships since our inception in 1958.
Through the Physical Education program students can take Pilates, train for a triathlon, practice archery, or go rock climbing. Students also engage in fierce yet friendly intramural games, play club sports, and take advantage of our fitness facilities. The Roberts Pavilion, currently under construction, will be the spectacular new fitness and events center on campus. Whether it’s to quench that competitive thirst or work out the kinks after a day of studying, CMC offers athletic opportunities for all.
