Professor Robert Faggen, Barton Evans and H. Andrea Neves Professor of Literature at Claremont McKenna College, has been a faculty member of Claremont McKenna College's Department of Literature since 1988. In the classroom he has held forth on all manner of authors and ideas: the Bible, Charles Darwin, Robert Frost, Ken Kesey, Czeslaw Milosz, John Milton, Science and Literature, and many other writers and issues. His publications include Robert Frost and the Challenge of Darwin (University of Michigan Press, 1997), Striving Towards Being: The Letters of Thomas Merton and Czeslaw Milosz (Farrar, Strauss & Giroux, 1997), The Notebooks of Robert Frost (Harvard University Press, 2006), and the forthcoming Ken Kesey: An American Life (Farrar, Straus & Giroux). As Chair of the Department of Literature and of the Athenaeum Advisory Committee, and as Special Program Director of past Gould Center speakers series, Dr. Faggen has brought to campus an impressive a roster of writers, artists, and thinkers, including several Nobel and U.S. Poets Laureate and a Fermi Medal-winning physicist.
