Water Rights and Resources Task Force

The Water Rights and Resources Task Force aims to create awareness and promote change regarding water rights on a local and international level. The committee's chairs are Angel Quicksey '12 and Kate Johnson '13.

We plan to create awareness of water issues through multiple avenues including documentaries and demonstrations. In particular, we will be demonstrating the effects of bottled water companies in developing nations at an event co-created by the Task Force and SPEAR, CMC's environmental club.

In addition to these efforts, we plan on raising money for Charity Water's Water for Schools Campaign by collecting and recycling plastic bottles, selling merchandise, and through various other fundraisers. We chose Charity Water because they send 100% of donated money to fund freshwater projects in schools, as private donors cover the organization's operating costs.

As for promoting change, we plan to work with CMC's Alumni Association to provide Nalgene water bottles for the incoming freshman class and otherwise promote responsible water use on campus.
