Women's Rights Task Force

The Women's Rights task force aims to promote and protect the rights of women on the local, national, and global level.  The Task Force is led by Alexa Teevens '12, Sara Birkenthal '13, Carly Graber '11, Olivia Kuhlman '11, and Bojana Bozic '14.

During the fall 2010 semester we focused on domestic issues. We held a gently used bra drive on campus for women in transitional shelters. Additionally, we held an advocacy party, at which we continued to get the word out about the bra drive, collected signatures for two Feminist Majority campaigns (regarding Crisis Pregnancy Centers and birth control access), collected names for our e-mail distribution list, and educated the community about other human rights abuses affecting women in the United States today. The turnout even included quite a few of our male classmates.

In the spring 2011 semester, we plan to make our focus more international. March 8, 2011 marks the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day, and we are planning programming around this important milestone.
