Aug 23, 2008 - windows are in, doors are mounted (no glass yet). The ceiling framework is finished - as soon as the ducting, the sprinklers, the network, and everyone else is done up above there, the tiles will be put in. The Fiber is getting finished and the network runs are done. The wire-moulding is capped off and finished. The HVAC return duct is framed and done.

Best of all - the LIGHTS ARE ON. It's a little thing, but hey, it makes such a big difference.

Aug 12, 2008 - HVAC has cut the holes in the wall for the ducting to get to the AC unit which is outside. (link) The wire molding is up. The outdoor outlets have had their conduit run and their boxes affixed (link). The little HVAC unit for the mechanical closet (to keep the network equipment cool) is in place. Dominoes are starting to fall!

Aug 7, 2008 - Wire molding is going up - this contains the power and network cables and wall-plates. This is a major step in this process. Once this is done, a lot of stuff will fall into place.

July 18, 2008 - Planning for the HVAC Ductwork, sprinkler systems, electrical conduit, and low-voltage/fiber lines continues as we get new info about how everything needs to be routed. Network closet has walls now! Story House pressure-washed some of the brick pavers outside and the improvement is immense! (link)

July 16, 2008 - Asbestos abatement finished. That wasn't so bad!

July 14, 2008 - Asbestos abatement begins. Evidently there is asbestos in the mastic (glue) holding some tile down - which was under layers of carpet and tile. It wasn't an issue until we began remodeling and tore up the carpet and succeeding layers of "stuff" and got down to the bare concrete. We also met this morning to coordinate HVAC, ceiling construction, and other items above the drop ceiling (like sprinklers, sensors, etc.)

July 11, 2008 - Story House removes large and unwieldy bushes from the courtyard. Trunks still to be removed. HVAC reports that the ducts may be able to sit above the T-bar ceiling, but need to discuss with the contractor. CFS engineer looked at the wall and reported that we can cut the hole for the HVAC ducting with no problem and will send the specs for the supplemental framing for that opening.

July 10, 2008 - Wall-board begins to go up. Door and window openings cleaned up. HVAC shop informs that a ductless system will not meet code, so we will have to go with a ducted system - discussion of where to put the ducts and how to frame around them.

July 8, 2008 - Door openings made square (for new store-front style doors) and internal cleanup. HVAC designs proposed - ductless system may be workable. Concrete patching of the floor, window and door frames, and external sidewalks.

July 3, 2008 - Old doors and windows removed. Demolition begins.
