On January 7, 2005 our students Christopher Jones, Michael O'Brien and Allison Westfahl presented two posters at the Undergraduate Student Poster Session in Atlanta, Georgia. The session was attended by 120 teams of undergraduates from all over the USA and Canada, and took place during the Joint Annual Meeting of the American Mathematical Society, the Mathematical Association of America, and the Association for Women in Mathematics. A team of 150 professional mathematicians evaluated the posters. Each judge was assigned 2 or 3 posters, and each poster was evaluated by three judges. The best posters were recognized with a $100 prize.

Chris and Allison's poster was based on a research project conducted during the summer of 2004 under the supervision of Dr. Mario Martelli, and in collaboration with Adam Cox. Adam could not attend the meeting since he is attending the Budapest Semester in Mathematics. Michael's poster was based on a research project conducted during the summer of 2003 under the supervision of Dr. Mike O'Neill. Two papers based on the results proved in the two posters are ready for submission to professional journals. The poster of Chris and Allison was recognized with one of the prizes.
