The city of Claremont will sponsor an entire day of Fourth of July events, beginning with a 7 to 10 a.m. pancake breakfast in Memorial Park, hosted by the Kiwanis Club. (Ticket sales will benefit a variety of organizations and community events.)
Also that morning at Memorial Park, the Claremont Village Freedom 5000 5k run/walk offers a fun walk at 7:30 and race run/walk at 8 a.m.
Other planned park events include a morning flag-raising ceremony, game booths, a rock wall, and a variety of contests.

The day culminates in a spectacular fireworks show at Pomona College's Strehle Track. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. for fireworks seating, with fireworks following at approximately 9 p.m. Rock 'n roll band The Ravelers will entertain audiences through the evening.
Fireworks tickets, $6 pre-sale and $8 at the gate, are available beginning June 1. Tickets may be purchased at Claremont City Hall (207 Harvard Ave.), Claremont Human Services (1700 Danbury Road.), Claremont Chamber of Commerce (205 Yale Ave.), Vons (550 E. Baseline Road.), and Wolfe's Market (160 W. Foothill Blvd.).
