Roberts Hall, a remarkable state-of-the-art academic center with classrooms, seminar rooms, faculty offices, and laboratory space, will open to students and faculty in a formal dedication ceremony at 1:30 pm on Monday, Sept. 28, 1998. The ceremony will be held at Roberts Hall South, 325 E. Eighth Street, in Claremont.
The Honorable Lee Kuan Yew, the Senior Minister of Singapore, will be among several diplomats, government leaders, and journalists who will convene in Claremont and Los Angeles for a major conference to explore "The Media in East Asia: Press and Politics in Economic Crisis" from Wednesday, October 28 through Friday October 30, 1998.

Stark has announced his intention to retire at the end of the academic year and is expected to use this opportunity to launch a campaign to renew a sense of idealism among undergraduates during his final year as president.
