Off-Campus Events

Robert Day Scholars have the opportunity to attend events with other colleges and organizations throughout the country. These off-campus activities, where expenses are typically covered by the program, lay the foundation for a strong network of personal and institutional contacts.

As an example, the Financial Economics Institute sponsors annual networking trips to visit leading firms in New York City. Previously, students have met with executives from Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and Morgan Stanley. During these visits, students learn about their operations and meet with recruiters while gaining exposure to different career options on Wall Street. For a detailed description see the 2008 NYC Networking Trip.

Additional off-campus events have included networking receptions in San Francisco and at the California Club in Los Angeles, where students met with alumni who offered career advice and informed students of job opportunities. Claremont McKenna College also hosts "Alumni and Friends" receptions throughout the country, where past and current Robert Day Scholars can maintain and build their professional and personal networks.
