Planning Ahead
The Robert Day School Master’s Program in Finance is intensive and covers in one academic year what many other programs spread across two years. As such, entering students should be well-prepared, having completed a number of prerequisites.
We’re committed to working with prospective students to help ensure that the prerequisite coursework serves not as a barrier to talented individuals who are interested in the program, but instead as a worthwhile and value-added preparation for the program and for your career. Please do not hesitate to call or e-mail us to discuss your own preparation for the program, and consider the following ideas and tips for fulfilling the requirements:
1. You may fulfill the prerequisite coursework at your undergraduate institution
2. If timing permits, you can spend one undergraduate semester at Claremont McKenna College to complete prerequisite coursework.
3. You may take prerequisite coursework from an institution different from your undergraduate college or university. Many of the prerequisite courses, such as accounting, are offered at a number of institutions across the country.
4. During the summer before starting the Master’s Program, you may complete basic coursework in accounting and finance at the Drucker School at the Claremont Graduate University.
5. You may participate in a post-baccalaureate program at Claremont McKenna College during the academic year following completion of your undergraduate studies. Note, however, that this option may require an additional semester or year of study. You may not co-enroll in the post-baccalaureate program and the Master’s Program.
The Robert Day School admission staff is available to assist with any questions about satisfying the prerequisite coursework. Please contact us at rdsadmission@claremontmckenna.edu or (909) 607-3347.
