DIS Copenhagen, Denmark
Environment, Economics, & Politics

Describe your typical day: I would either ride my bike or take a bus to class every day. Twice a week I would practice with the ØKF soccer club team which was made up of DIS students and Danes. I made sure to always have dinner with my host family.

What was your favorite part of the city to visit?  There were so many great cafes, I drank way too much coffee. I also loved jogging or biking next to Amager Strandpark, which is next to the sea. It was a good way to clear my mind, and on a clear day, I could see the coastline of Sweden!

Favorite food discovered while abroad: Smørrebrød, The Danish open–faced sandwich.

What was one highlight of your semester off-campus? I took a trip with DIS to Norway. We were out on a fjord in a town of only 400 people and got to go speedboating, kayaking, and hiking. It was awesome to explore.

What was one challenge you faced during your semester off-campus? I’m from Southern California so it was pretty tough adjusting to the cold.

Advice:
Enjoy your experience. Say yes to everything and try to get as much out of your short time abroad as you can. Meet as many locals as you can, not just your host family.
