Describe your typical day: I would have class for most of the day then have dinner with my awesome host family and roommate from the program. I really liked going to the Christmas markets, it was a cute midsized city.

Favorite food discovered while abroad: Tarte Flambée—kind of like pizza with cream instead of cheese.

What was your favorite part of the city to visit?  I loved le Centre Ville and la Petite France. I also liked walking around the city.

What was one highlight of your semester off-campus? You could sit in on meetings at the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights which really had a huge influence on me.

What was one challenge you faced during your semester off-campus?
The language barrier was difficult; my host family didn’t speak much English so it was hard to communicate sometimes.

Advice: Make sure you are comfortable speaking and understanding French. Take advantage of the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights being in the city, they have internships.
