Summer Academic Trip to Rome

CMC is sponsoring an exciting, faculty-led academic trip to Rome this summer for students!
The trip will be for ten days, June 15-25, and CMC will bring about fifteen students. The Rome program will feature three faculty directors with expertise in fields related to various aspects of the cultural history of the city: Shane Bjornlie (Roman and medieval history), Seth Lobis (Renaissance literature) and Victoria Sancho Lobis (art history).
The trip will allow students to explore how the fabric of the ancient, medieval and Renaissance city combined with the modern urban environment to produce the striking visual tapestry that is modern Rome. In addition to visiting the many important museums and archaeological sites preserving the material culture of Rome’s past, students will enjoy other cultural delights of this thriving city, including its wonderful and diverse cuisine. Students will be expected to follow the trip itinerary and on-site lectures offered by the faculty directors, but the itinerary will also allow ample time for students to explore the city independently.
Trip highlights include:
-Colosseum and Circus Maximus
-Vatican
-Pompeii
-Capitoline Museum
-Pantheon
-Catacombs of San Callisto
Applications are available in the Center for Global Education in Heggblade.
