  • Biography

Major Michael John Doyle graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Armor Branch in May of 2001.  His assignments and duty positions have included Basic Training Company Executive Officer, D/1-34 IN, Fort Jackson, SC; Tank Platoon Leader, C/2-8 Cav, 1st BCT, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, TX; Aide-de-camp for the Assistant Division Commander for Maneuver, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, TX; During OIF II, Brigade Reconnaissance Troop Executive Officer, C Troop, 10th Cavalry, 1st BCT, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, TX; Battalion Planner, 2-8 Cav, 1st BCT, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, TX.  Commander, Delta Company, 2-8 Cav, 1st BCT, 1st Cavalry Division, Commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), 2-8 Cav, 1st BCT, 1st Cavalry Division, battalion operations officer and executive office, 2nd Battalion, 358th Armor Regiment, 191st Infantry Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA, operations officer, 191st Infantry Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA, battalion executive officer, 3rd Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT), 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas, brigade executive officer, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT), 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas, and is currently assigned as the Professor of Military Science (PMS) at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California.

His military education includes the Armor Officer Basic Course, Armor Captain Career Course, and the Command and General Staff College (CGSC) resident course.  His awards and medals include the Combat Action Badge, the Bronze Star Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal with 5 campaign stars, the Afghan Campaign medal with 1 campaign

MAJ Doyle is married to the former Amanda Gerding of Jordan, OR, who is a Major in the Washington State National Guard, and they have three daughters, Maggie, Penny, and Samantha.
