Invention of the Laser
Wednesday, September 26, 1984

Have you ever met a Nobel Prize winner? Few of us have, and fewer still have had the opportunity for a conversation with someone who holds one of the most prestigious awards in the world. One of the outstanding events on the Athenaeum's fall schedule is the visit of Arthur Schawlow, 1981 Nobel Laureate in Physics for his work on lasers. Schawlow's visit, which will involve far more than just a lecture, is intended for a general audience, not just budding physicists. He will be here for a reception on Wed., Sept. 26 at 5:30, dinner at 6:00, and a talk immediately following dinner.

Professor Schawlow has won numerous awards and citations for his pioneering work. Be sure not to miss the unique occasion. Signup deadline is Monday, September 24.
