IES Salamanca, Spain
Describe your typical day: I would have class in the morning then have a huge lunch with my entire host family. After classes were over for the day we would go to a cafe and hang out or do homework.
Favorite food discovered while abroad: The paella was so good.
What was your favorite part of the city to visit? I think my favorite place in the city was the Plaza Mayor. I would walk around and look at all the stores and cafes. It was a main meeting point for a lot of people and it seemed like everyone there was always happy.
What was one highlight of your semester off-campus? Before the classes started the program took us on a walking trip on the Camino de Santiago. We would walk 10 miles a day and it was a great way to meet and bond with everyone on the program.
What was one challenge you faced during your semester off-campus?
Sometimes it was hard being in a smaller town especially with the language and traveling.
Advice: Put yourself out there, swallow your pride regarding Spanish and just go for it. People enjoy it when you try your Spanish on them.
