The Center for Medical Progress, a group founded by David Daleiden ’11 in 2013, produced a series of secretly-recorded videos of Planned Parenthood officials that created a national uproar dominating the news in early July and leading to a Congressional probe of Planned Parenthood. That probe is continuing—stay tuned as the videos continue to spur controversy. 

David Enrich ’01, European editor for the Wall Street Journal, wrote an in-depth piece on “The Unraveling of Tom Hayes” for the paper, detailing the story of the former UBS and Citigroup trader accused of conspiracy to rig the crucial Libor interest rate. Also in the pages of the Journal, Sara Birkenthal ’13 co-authored the op-ed “At Home With Our Iranian Nuclear Partners” in June.

CMC Trustee George Roberts ’66 P’93 was spotlighted in the July 23 San Francisco Business Times for his helping the homeless in San Francisco and for his views on philanthropy. CMC Trustee Douglas Peterson ’80 P’14 P’15 co-authored an article for The Hill on the private sector’s role in restoring America’s aging infrastructure. 

Heidi Nelson Cruz ’94, wife of U.S. Senator and Presidential candidate Ted Cruz, was the focus of a September 14 article on her successful banking career, family life, and recent work for her husband’s campaign in The Washington Post. 

Lindsay Claiborn ‘05 launched a new podcast on women in science called Beyond the Microscope, which can be heard at scopepodcast.com. Kathy Y.L Chan ’07, a fine tea expert, was profiled for her expertise in the New York Times. 

Jerry Lin ’07 launched a custom e-commerce mattress company called Helix Sleep, which is getting a lot of buzz in the business media, especially Fortune and Fast Company
