Claremont's July 4 Celebration

The city of Claremont celebrates its 60th anniversary observing Independence Day with its Fourth of July Celebration and Festival, a daylong, community-wide event involving more than 50 volunteers and a half-year of planning.
Tickets are now on sale for the Fourth of July fireworks show at Pomona College's Strehle Track; cost per ticket is $6 in advance and $8 at the gate. Tickets may be purchased at the following locations: Claremont City Hall (207 Harvard Ave.), Claremont Human Services (1700 Danbury Rd.), Claremont Chamber of Commerce (205 Yale Ave.), VONS (550 E. Baseline Rd.), and Wolfe's Market (160 W. Foothill Blvd.).
The day's events begin with a Kiwanis pancake breakfast fundraiser from 7 to 10 a.m., and the Claremont Village Freedom 5000 1K and 5K Races & Walk (with start times at 7:30 and 8 a.m., respectively).

Members of Claremont's Kiwanis Club will serve pancakes from 7 to 10 a.m. Tickets are $3, with proceeds supporting local community organizations and events. Claremont Village Freedom 5000 1K and 5K Races & Walk

Get a chance to race for freedom with the 1K Fun Walk and the 5K Race Run/Walk. The course winds through the streets of the Village and The Claremont Colleges. Water will be provided. Entertainment for Family and Children/Festival

Activities include a three-legged race, Tug-O-War, a rock-climbing wall, inflatable jumper, and a large jungle gym. Roving clowns, jugglers, bands, and even a very tall Uncle Sam will add to the festive spirit. 4th of July Parade

Charlene Martin, former director of International Place, a multicultural center for The Claremont Colleges, will serve as parade grand marshal. Participants will include bands, floats, specialty vehicles, musical and novelty groups, and dignitaries. The celebratory walk starts at approximately 4 p.m. at 10th Street and Indian Hill.
CMC alumni and their families are invited to walk alongside the Claremont McKenna College float, and are encouraged to wear their CMC gear and comfortable shoes. (Treats and water provided.)

The LCR Band, a local favorite, will keep audiences entertained until dark at Pomona College's Strehle Track. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., followed by the 20-minute fireworks display at 9.
