If you've ever wondered what it might be like to work for a Silicon Valley giant like Google, Yahoo or Apple, CMC is offering a great new opportunity. Beginning fall 2012, CMC will offer the Silicon Valley Semester Program, modeled on CMC's 35+ year academic and internship program in Washington, D.C. The program offers students a full-time internship at a prestigious Silicon Valley organization such as Google, PayPal or eBay, two CMC seminar courses and a research paper.
The Silicon Valley Semester Program is open to undergraduate students from all majors attending the Claremont Colleges. To be eligible, students must be in their junior year, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 9.0 (B), and either be enrolled in or have completed Intermediate Microeconomics (ECON 101 CM or equivalent). Students will earn four CMC credits for completing the program.
Silicon Valley Program participants will pay CMC tuition and fees, but not CMC room and board. Students will cover the cost of housing, meals and transportation independently. The Silicon Valley Program is an approved off-campus CMC program option, so students will receive their financial aid packages while on the program.
The Silicon Valley Program application deadline is February 10, 2012 for fall 2012 semester and applications are available at the Center for Global Education's Office of Off-Campus Study. To apply, students will complete an application form, two essays, supply two letters of recommendation and a current resume. Students whose applications pass the first round of review will be interviewed by the Silicon Valley Program selection committee.
