Men's Tennis Advance to NCAA Semifinals in Lewiston

CMS men's tennis has advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships in Lewiston, Maine, following their Tuesday, May 13 5-2 win over Williams College. That victory, achieved in yesterday's quarterfinals, propelled the Stags into a match at 2 p.m. today (EST) against Washington University.

This is the first time since 1994 that we have advanced to the semifinals.

The NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships in Lewiston are being held through Sunday, May 18. Regardless of how they perform in today's semi-finals, the CMS men's tennis team also competes tomorrow. A victory today against Washington would move the Stags to finals tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (EST). A loss in today's semi-finals against Washington would still make the team eligible for tomorrow's playoffs for third place.

CMS advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships with a 5-2 win over Williams College. CMS avenged a 7-2 loss earlier this season to Williams and improved to 26-7 overall.

The Stags finish the season with the most wins in their illustrious history and add another NCAA team trophy to their collection. Only two other schools in the country have as many top three NCAA finishes as CMS. The Stags had one of the most difficult schedules in the country. CMS beat 14 teams that are currently nationally ranked including eight top-10 Division III teams. CMS played 12 of the teams in the NCAA Championships including six of the seven other teams in the quarterfinals. Of their eight losses, five were to top-10 Division III teams and the other three were to NAIA schools, two of which were ranked.
