Michael Eric Dyson Launches MMCA Spring Season with Jan. 28 Lecture

Michael Eric Dyson, award-winning author, ordained Baptist minister, and professor of religious studies at DePaul University, launches the Spring 2002 season of the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum with his lecture at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28. Dyson, the author of I May Not Get There With You: The True Martin Luther King, Jr., has been hailed as "one of the youngest stars in the firmament of black intellectuals." His lectures draw from sources ranging from Foucault to James Brown, from Heidegger to Tupac Shakur. He has also written for publications including The New York Times, Vibe, Emerge, The Nation, and Rolling Stone.

Dyson's lecture is sponsored by the Office of Black Student Affairs and the Martin Luther King Commemoration Planning Committee of the Claremont Colleges. Reservations are not required to attend the lecture only, with seating available on a first-come basis. For reception and dinner reservations contact the Athenaeum
