Third Annual Toy Drive Underway

The community service office is hosting its third annual CMC Toy Drive through Monday, Dec. 5, soliciting new and used donations appropriate for children of all ages, but with special attention to items for boys and girls ages 8-12. Collection boxes will be placed in P6, Bauer Center, The Hub, and in Heggblade Center.

The donations will benefit families in the greater Pomona Valley who have been identified by participating school districts. Along with collecting new and used toys, CMC students will help deliver and distribute the toys on Tuesday, Dec.6.

"Unlike some other drives, the organization we work with lets parents come and select the toys, so there's a high likelihood of kids getting something they like, as well as permitting the organization to stay mostly in the background," says Kasey Schneider 07, a CMC community service coordinator.

Concurrently, the CUC Office of the Chaplains is requesting toy donations for the Holiday Giving Train, benefiting children served by the SOVA Food Pantry in Ontario.

Tags stating the age and gender of a needy child are available at McAlister Center or Huntley Bookstore. Tags should be affixed to a wrapped gift and returned to either location by Monday, Dec. 12.
