Winter Break Guidelines

With fall semester drawing to a close, the following guidelines regarding winter break schedules and activities have been issued by the Dean of Students office:

24-Hour Quiet/Courtesy Hours: In observance of exams, courtesy hours for student studies will go into effect at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10 and end at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17.

Residence Hall Closures: Residence halls will close at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17. The only exceptions are resident assistants, women's and men's varsity basketball players, residents of the student apartments, and those students who have flights late Friday or early Saturday. (Please see your RA.)

Room Preparation for winter break: Students are urged to bring valuables home during the holidays and prep rooms for the break by locking windows and doors, emptying refrigerators, and unplugging all other electrical appliances. All decorations (including Christmas trees) should be removed before leaving campus. Plastic chairs should be brought into rooms. (Students not returning next semester should contact Facilities and Campus Services for pick-up of chairs.)
International students who cannot return home during winter break should contact International Place immediately.

Crocker Reading Room: Crocker will extend its hours beginning Dec. 8 to the following schedule: open until 2 a.m., Weds. & Thurs., Dec. 8 & 9; open until 1a.m., Fri. & Sat., Dec. 10 & 11; open until 2 a.m., Sun. Thurs., Dec 12-16; open until 4 p.m., Fri., Dec. 17.

The Hub Store: is expected to remain open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. during finals week.

First -Class Mail: will be forwarded to students' home addresses for the first three weeks of break. Mail received in the final week of the break will be held at Story House.

Meals: Meals at Collins Dining Hall, including late-night snack, will run through finals. The last meal served will be dinner, on Friday, Dec. 17th.

Residence Hall Re-Openings: Residence halls re-open on Sunday, Jan. 16. Keys may be picked up at Story House between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 17 (Martin Luther King holiday).

Spring 2005 Off-Campus Study Participants: Students storing items on campus are encouraged to remove all items from campus storage before departing in December.

Meal Plan Changes for spring 2005: Changes may be made anytime this semester in the Heggblade Center, or before 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21st.
