South Quad- A Towering Effort

South Quad

Constructed in 1967, the 7-story Auen and Fawcett residence hall towers in the South Quad were completely renovated during Summer 2008 at a cost of $11.3 million. The renovation designed by La Canada Design Group, thoroughly refurbished the living spaces. All flooring, wall treatments, lighting, doors, hardware, and fixtures were redesigned and replaced in 96 dorm rooms and 12 individual floor lounges. Bathrooms were renovated to be ADA compliant and the HVAC, electrical, data distribution, and fire alarm systems were all upgraded. The ground floor active and quiet lounges and all other public spaces in each dormitory were also completely redone with new finishes and furniture. Always renowned for their stunning 360 degree views, the restored towers are once again prime dorm space on the CMC campus.
