Nine Claremont McKenna students (and one recent alumna) are practicing their smiles and waves over winter break, getting ready to take their places on Claremont McKenna’s Rose Parade float as it glides down Colorado Boulevard on Jan. 2, 2023.

These exemplary CMCers will ride the float and represent Claremont McKenna, which celebrates its 75th anniversary and “bright future” in line with the parade’s theme, “Turning the Corner.”

Meet Anderson Breazeale ’24 from Wayzata, Minn.

Eight-time All-American, Anderson Breazeale ’24 describes himself as a “proud contributor to CMC’s academic environment, sports program, and clubs.”

In February 2022, Breazeale competed with the 200-yard medley relay team, which set a new SCIAC record.

Pursuing an interest in economics, finance, and entrepreneurship at CMC, Breazeale is a Robert Day Scholar who’s involved with SOURCE, the student-run nonprofit consulting service, finding “a lot of value in my responsibility of client lead,” he said.

Breazeale, who is earning his bachelor’s degree in economics, a master’s in finance, with a data science sequence, grew up in Wayzata, Minn. His twin brother, Thayer ’23, also attends CMC.

“I was quite sure CMC was the best school for me because of the economics program and attitude towards applying knowledge learned from the classroom to the real world,” he said, adding that it’s been “a huge highlight to go to college with my twin brother.”
