The Division III winter standings for the 2013-14 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup were released April 3 and CMS is ranked 19th out of 400-plus NCAA Division III athletic departments. This is the highest CMS has ever been ranked after the winter and the department’s first time in the top-25 through the winter standings. CMS is tops among SCIAC schools (next best is 71st) and West Coast (54th) schools.
In these latest rankings, CMS earned points from men's swimming & diving (7th - 72 pts.), women's swimming & diving (13th - 63 pts.) and women's basketball (t33rd). Four sports scored points in the fall including men's and women's cross country, women's soccer and volleyball.
The Directors' Cup competition is now in its 19th year. The competition awards points based on a team's finish at the NCAA Championships. CMS has been the top finishing SCIAC representative in 13 of its first 18 years and also finished in the top 60 overall 16 times. The 2012-13 school year was the tenth top-30 finish for the program as CMS finished in a program-best 13th place.
The first set of spring standings, which will include men's and women's golf, will be released on May 22. The final standing for the year will be released on June 5.
