Comedy Writer and author David Misch to Visit for Lecture and Q&A

His first screenwriting job was Mork and Mindy, which would go on to win an Emmy for Best New Comedy Series. He also co-wrote “Leave it to Dave,” the pilot for David Letterman’s first talkshow. And if you can remember TV shows such as She Spies, Police Squad! and Duckman, well, you’ve got your man. He worked on all of them in various capacities, including as story editor, executive producer, and executive consultant.

David Misch––comedy writer and author of Funny: The Book/Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Comedy” (Applause, 2012)––will visit CMC as a guest of the CMC Film Studies Program on Thursday, March 14, in Pickford Auditorium, at Bauer Center (500 E. Ninth St.) Misch will give a lecture, then take questions from the audience. The event is from 4:30 to 6 p.m., and is free and open to the public.

Misch is a graduate of Pomona College and has been a comic folksinger, stand-up comedian, and screenwriter. In addition to the TV shows previously mentioned, he also wrote sketches for Saturday Night Live in 1975, and in 1984, was a special consultant on The Muppets Take Manhattan.

He also blogs for The Huffington Post, and his play “Occupied,” is scheduled to be produced later this year in Los Angeles. He’s taught and lectured at the University of Southern California, UCLA, and Columbia University.
