Explore CMC’s history throughout our anniversary year

A photo collage commemorating CMC's 75th Anniversary

If you know anything about CMC’s 50th Anniversary history project, you know Kevin Starr’s book, Commerce and Civilization Claremont McKenna College: The First Fifty Years, 1946-1996. That book is among the sources for our series of brief history stories celebrating the College’s people, campus, academics, milestones, and other distinct CMC moments.

The College had plenty to boast about in those early years: renowned founding faculty, the creation of the Athenaeum, pioneering women, a joint management-engineering program with Stanford, visionary presidents, famous visitors to campus, and more. Read about CMC’s history in our CMC Stories.
