The team behind Claremont McKenna College’s Robert Day Sciences Center (RDSC) added another honor to a growing list of accolades, winning an Award of Merit in Higher Education/Research from Engineering News-Record-West.
The RDSC was recently recognized as part of ENR West’s 2026 Regional Best Projects competition in the Northern California and Southern California subregions. “Projects were evaluated on the ability of the project team to overcome challenges, their contribution to the industry and community, safety and construction and design quality,” according to a news release by ENR West, a leading publication for construction, architecture, and engineering.
Earlier this summer, the RDSC was selected as one of the “World’s Most Beautiful” buildings on a university campus by Prix Versailles, which highlighted RDSC’s role in “beautifying and improving the living environment.” Announced each year at UNESCO, the internationally renowned Prix Versailles is a series of architectural competitions that shine a light on the finest contemporary projects worldwide.
In May, the RDSC also won the Structural Engineers Association of California’s Award of Merit for New Construction and the People’s Choice Award, recognizing the work of Saiful Bouquet Structural Engineers, Inc.
Altogether, these awards for the RDSC celebrate the achievements and work of BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group, KPRS Construction, Saiful Bouquet Structural Engineers, Atlas Civil Design, and IDS Real Estate Group.
