SCIAC Swim Meet Against
Redlands Gets National
Attention by Magazine

A dual meet this weekend between the Stags and Athenas and the University of Redlands swimming and diving teams will be covered online by Swimming World magazine.
The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) meet, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Redlands' Thompson Aquatic Center, has been selected as Swimming World.com's featured Meet of the Week. A preview of the event (which includes the Stags and Athenas logos) now resides on the magazine's Web site.
"We're excited that SwimmingWorld.com will be covering the meet," says CMS head swimming coach Charles Griffiths. "We have team members from all over the country (and globe), so it's great to receive national exposure."
The magazine showcases college meets across the country ranging from Division I to Division III, and features historic rivalries nationwide. As part of its coverage, Swimming World will post results of Saturday's competition between CMS and Redlands the following week.
"The SCIAC sets up its schedule so that the top two teams from the previous year compete in the final dual meet of the season," Griffiths says. "Since each team has had a full season of training and we're less than two weeks from the Conference Championship meet, we're expecting to see great performances from both teams."
Quoted on the University of Redlands Web site, Swimming World Managing Editor Jason Marsteller says, "We're proud to highlight a rivalry as heated as the one between Claremont [Mudd-Scripps] and Redlands. Both teams are among the best in the nation, and we couldn't be more excited to cover a match-up that'll provide the competition and excitement of a big-time college meet."
