Two CMC Alums Move into Local City Manager Positions

CMC alums Scott Ochoa '93 and Colin Tudor '05 have become the City of Glendale's new city manager and City of Claremont's interim assistant city manager, respectively.
Ochoa, no stranger to working in the public sector, comes to Glendale after a long career with the City of Monrovia where he served as the solid waste manager, assistant director of redevelopment and most recently, city manager. His involvement with Monrovia dates back to his time at CMC when he first applied for an internship with the city after hearing about it from a fellow student.
"I got the internship at $6.50 an hour and I never left," Ochoa told The Los Angeles Times.
Now, as the city manager of the third largest city in Los Angeles County, Ochoa says he's up for the new challenge, even with the financial issues the city faces in today's economic climate. With Glendale being roughly five times the size of Monrovia, Ochoa said the change of pace will take some getting used to.
Tudor is also no outsider to the public sector. He has worked at the City of Claremont since 1998 where he started in the Human Services Department. After transferring to the city manager's office in 2006, where he worked as a management analyst and more recently as the assistant to the city manager, Tudor will now act as the interim assistant city manager for the next six months. Tudor is replacing former assistant city manager Tony Ramos, who was promoted to city manager last month.
Tudor's deep knowledge of the city and his many years of experience will play a vital role in the city's development of a new two-year budget plan.
Tudor has also been recognized with the Chairman's Award at the Claremont Chamber of Commerce awards ceremony as well as the City Manager's Award for spearheading Claremont's involvement in the AMGEN bicycle tour last July.
