Hicham Bou Nassif, the Weinberg Associate Professor of International Relations and the Middle East and George R. Roberts Fellow, was interviewed about the situation in the Middle East and, in particular, Lebanon, on CNN’s “The Story Is with Elex Michaelson,” in mid-April 2026. Bou Nassif, a regular guest on CNN, shared an optimistic view that, despite the violence, there is a “glimmer of hope” for peace through negotiations. Bou Nassif, who is Lebanese and has friends and family in the country, asserted that most of the Lebanese are tired of war, and reflected on the external forces that have deprived the country of its political independence over the past half-century, saying, “I think the Lebanese are saying enough is enough.”
