The Mirza-Stark Veterans Scholarship Challenge

Central to CMC’s mission and tradition, now, as at its founding, is the notion of duty to this country. From its earliest days in the immediate aftermath of World War II, the College has enthusiastically welcomed veterans wishing to pursue college degrees, just as it has proudly prepared traditional students for military service and military careers after graduation.

As the College enters its eighth decade, and with the view of preserving this core tradition, it is therefore fitting that alumni and friends join together to create a dedicated resource for the support of veterans, and for their children, as well. A new fund for that purpose has been created as the brainchild of Mustafa Mirza ’76 P’13 P’15 and family, initiating donors. Jack Stark ’57 GP’11, CMC President Emeritus, and his wife, Jil Stark ’58 GP’11, are co-chairs of this effort.

Alumni, parents and friends are invited to participate in this endeavor. The Mirza-Stark Veterans Scholarship Challenge seeks to raise a minimum of an additional $100,000 to match commitments already made, with the College continuing the effort beyond, as part of The Student Imperative. Gifts and expressions of interest may be made to the office of the Vice President for Advancement, Claremont McKenna College, attention Carroll D. Stevens.
