CMC Trustee Doug Peterson ’80 P’14 P’15 has always been a champion for the arts.

This year, Carnegie Hall will award its 13th Medal of Excellence to Peterson in recognition of his 10th anniversary as President and Chief Executive Officer of S&P Global. This honor is given to established business leaders who dedicate their philanthropic efforts to the arts. Peterson has served as President, Chief Executive Officer and has been a member of the Board of Directors of S&P Global since 2013. In 2011, he joined the company as president of its credit ratings business.

In addition to his business leadership role, he has taken on several philanthropic endeavors, including serving on the board of the Paul Taylor Dance Company. He also serves on the board of the Japan Society in New York where he supports the performing arts programs. He is passionate about the arts and the power of music to positively influence people’s lives.

“Receiving this award is truly an honor,” said Peterson “I am deeply grateful to be in a position to make an impact in my community. I’ve always been interested in the way art connects us to our humanity. It has the power to challenge and transform us. This recognition is a tribute to the fabulous artists who bring joy and inspiration to audiences around the globe.”

Peterson will be the 13th recipient of the Carnegie Hall Medal of Excellence. Previous recipients have included: Anne M. Finucane, James P. Gorman, Vartan Gregorian, Sanford I. Weill, Oscar de la Renta, Bill Cunningham, Henry T. Segerstrom, and Terry J. Lundgren.
