Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Exam (Rape Kit)

A SART exam is the main way to preserve physical evidence following a sexual assault and provide medication to prevent certain sti’s and pregnancy if needed. The exam is time sensitive, usually within a 5 day window of an assault. Even if you do not want a criminal investigation, you can still receive the exam and have evidence collected if you choose to report at a later time. For more information on the exam contact the local rape crisis center PSFS at 909-626-4357 to speak to an advocate who may assist you with receiving the exam.

Student Health Services

Student Health Services (SHS) is the go-to resource for students for non-emergency medical services relating to general health, treatment of injuries, and sexual health. Doctors and nurses at SHS are confidential resources and will not report what they learn about sexual violence to the College. However, California law requires medical providers to report sexual violence to law enforcement. You have a right to ask your medical provider about this reporting obligation.

Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Testing

STI testing is available at SHS for a fee. Educational material on STIs is available at Health Education Outreach (HEO) or in consultation with a SHS health- care provider. Many insurance companies will reimburse this cost.

HIV Testing

The test used is the INSTI Rapid HIV1/HIV2 test, which requires a droplet of blood via finger stick and delivers results in about one minute. When students visit SHS they should specifically request a “confidential” test, which is available for free.

Pregnancy Testing

Both urine and blood pregnancy tests are available at Student Health Services (SHS) by appointment. Urine tests are free when students specifically request a “confidential” test.
