Preventing and Addressing Sex Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, and Sexual Violence

Claremont McKenna College strives to maintain an environment for students, faculty, and staff that is free of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual violence. All members of the College community should be aware that the College is prepared to take prompt remedial action to prevent and address such behavior and remedy its effects.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX) prohibits gender-based discrimination and harassment in educational programs and activities at institutions that receive federal financial funding. The Claremont Colleges enacted the Title IX Interim Policy that covers conduct that falls within the jurisdictional and definitional requirements of the federal regulations. This conduct will be covered by the TCC Title IX Procedures, https://services.claremont.edu/titleix/

The CMC Civil Rights Policy outlines the process for responding to sex discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual violence complaints involving staff, students, and faculty members that is not covered under the TCC Title IX Policy: Civil Rights Policy.

The grievance procedures that the College will follow for complaints of alleged sexual discrimination and harassment, including sexual violence, involving students, staff, faculty members, and third parties can be found here: Civil Rights Grievance Procedures.

For comprehensive information about resources and options for responding to sexual misconduct, please visit the Claremont Colleges' sexual misconduct resources website.

CMC has designated a Title IX Administrator and three Deputy Coordinators to assist the community with issues regarding discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct and definitional requirements of the federal regulations.
