Travel Program to Israel: Summer 2008

Students

The Center for Human Rights Leadership sponsored an academic travel program to Israel. Sixteen students joined Professors Jonathan Petropoulos and Gary Gilbert, and CMC alumnus and Trustee Christopher Walker ’69 on a two-week program in Israel to examine issues related to the Holocaust and its representation in Israel, the Armenian genocide, and human rights issues involved in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Highlights included meeting with political leaders, including Member of Knesset Gilad Erdan, Yossi Klein Halevi, senior scholar at the Shalem Center, and community leaders at Al-Quds University, the Jewish-Arab Center for Peace, and Givat Haviva, an educational foundation for democracy and coexistence.
