CMC Campus Map

2 Begin at the Kravis Center | The Kravis Center houses the Office of Admission and Financial Aid in addition to 15 classrooms, 60 faculty offices, six of CMC’s eleven research institutes, underground parking, and the Living Room, a glass-enclosed student lounge affectionately referred to as “The Kube,” that provides a unique view of campus . Leaving the Kravis Center, you will enter into a lawn framed by Roberts Halls North and South, Seaman Hall, and Adams Hall .

3 4 5 6 Roberts North and South, Adams, Seaman | These halls house classrooms and faculty offices. Adams Hall also contains Poppa Computer Lab, which offers unlimited free printing and never closes.

7 The Hub | Just beyond Adams Hall, on your left, is The Hub. The Hub houses pool tables, flatscreen satellite TVs, comfortable seating, as well as the Hub Grill, which serves food and drinks throughout the day. The Hub Store, next to the Grill, sells snacks, toiletries, and other basics.

8 The Fountain | This fountain, in the middle of Flamson Plaza, is integral to a long-standing CMC tradition, ponding. On their birthdays, CMC students carry their friends to the fountain to be thrown in on their special day. The fountain is located at the heart of CMC’s campus between The Hub, McKenna Auditorium, and the Athenaeum, and serves as a gathering place for special events.

9 The Athenaeum | Across from The Hub, on the other side of the fountain, is the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum, CMC’s most tangible link to the world . Four nights a week, every week of the academic year, nationally and internationally renowned figures visit “The Ath.” This is where today’s world leaders interact up close and personal with CMC students destined to lead the world tomorrow! Each evening students enjoy a deliciously prepared meal before our guest takes the stage. Seven lucky students have the opportunity to dine at the “head table” with the distinguished speaker. Following the talk is an open forum where students engage in discussion with the speaker. The Ath also hosts Afternoon Tea where anyone can drop by to enjoy coffee, tea, or a light snack.

10 Soll Center for Student Opportunity | Between The Hub and McKenna Auditorium lies an open and inviting space for students to connect with employers, alumni, and staff specialized in supporting the personal and professional development of our students over their entire four-year journey. With a mandate to view the entire campus through the “eyes of a student,” the Center houses Career Services, along with the Scholar Communities and Robert Day Scholars Program.

12 Heggblade Center | Ahead and to the left is Heggblade Center which houses three important CMC resources: the C . A . R . E . Center, Dean of Students (DOS) Office, and Center for Global Education. Upstairs, the C . A . R . E . (Civility, Access, Resource, Expression) Center provides support to students by fostering an environment of learning, dialogues, and analysis about issues of identity and interculturalism. The C . A . R . E . Center is a place where the community can engage through educational programming and workshops that feature multifaceted thoughts and perspectives. Downstairs you’ll find DOS which coordinates student residential life, advising, New Student Orientation, the Center for Civic Engagement, and supports student activities. The College Programming Board (CPB) is a student-run organization that, with the support of DOS, plans activities on campus from laser tag on Parents Field and Friday Night Movies as well as funded off-campus events to Disneyland and destinations in Los Angeles . Finally, the Center for Global Education coordinates our study-abroad programs in over 43 countries, as well as our Washington and Silicon Valley semester programs, during which students enroll in a full-time internship as well as three academic courses.

W International Place | Between Heggblade Center and McKenna Auditorium, behind Wheeler Plaza, International Place is a student lounge and resource center that caters to the international community at The Claremont Colleges . I-Place plans cultural events throughout the year, including International Festival and the International Autumn Gala.

22 23 24 25 North Quad | Continue past Heggblade into North Quad. North Quad is comprised of four residence halls: Appleby, Wohlford, Boswell, and Green, which together represent one of CMC’s three residential “quads.” North Quad rooms are arranged in a suite style with four double rooms sharing a common bathroom . Equipped with lounges and laundry facilities, all residence halls are co-ed and house students from every class year.

U Keck Science Center | Keck Science Center lies just behind Boswell Hall and is home to the Keck Science Department of CMC, Scripps, and Pitzer Colleges . The Keck Science Department offers a full range of science courses and labs . In addition to coursework, the majority of science majors will participate in research projects with their professors and gain invaluable field experience resulting in high acceptance rates into medical school and other graduate programs .

35 36 Bauer | At the end of the walkway through the quad, you will see a large round building, which is Bauer South . Together with the adjacent rectangular Bauer North, Bauer Center contains many technologically advanced classrooms and faculty and administrative offices, including the Office of the Registrar, ROTC headquarters, the Debate Union, and three of our eleven research institutes.

31 32 Roberts Pavilion | Turn right on the path that leads away from Bauer and along Parents Field. At the end of the path is Axelrood Pool and Roberts Pavilion, depot of wellness, recreation, athletics, and an extension of community space for special events and gatherings . Roberts Pavilion is the proud home of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) Athletics which competes in NCAA Division III . Our sister colleges Pomona and Pitzer form a separate athletics department . Both teams compete in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) . In conjunction with the other Claremont Colleges, there is a robust Club Sports Program . Many of our club teams (including Rugby, Ultimate Frisbee, Men’s Lacrosse, Field Hockey, and Fencing) compete at the regional and national level . Beyond competitive teams, CMC provides a wide range of physical education courses and intramural activities such as inner tube water polo, sand volleyball, flag football, and bubble soccer .

27 28 29 30 South Quad | To your right you will see the three towers that form South Quad: Stark Hall, Fawcett Hall, and Auen Hall . Each floor of the South Quad residence halls is designed with a common lounge surrounded by double and single rooms . On the first floor of Stark Hall, our substance-free residence hall, is another 24-hour computer lab .

15 16 17 18 19 20 21 Mid Quad | Leaving South Quad, past Stark Hall, you will encounter the residence halls that make up Mid-Quad: Berger, Claremont, Benson, Marks, Crown, Beckett, and Phillips . Mid Quad residence halls are a mix of single, double, and triple rooms off central hallways . Phillips Hall has a third 24-hour student computer lab on the first floor . Claremont Hall has an amphitheater, courtyard, and residential kitchen .

13 Collins | Collins Dining Hall is your last stop before heading back to Kravis . Walk through Mid Quad and just past Beckett you will see Story House, which houses student mailboxes and our Facilities Department, and then Collins . While Collins is CMC’s only dining hall and a great place to see other students as well as have lunch with faculty and staff, students also have access to the six other dining halls across the Consortium . Collins is an all-you-can-eat buffet style dining hall with numerous vegetarian options available along with a great selection of healthy, balanced dishes . In addition to regular meals, four nights per week Collins serves a complimentary late night snack from 10:30 to 11:30 p.m. Keep walking and the Ath is just around the corner and to the left.

Beyond that is the Kravis Center, which brings you back where you started. Your tour of the CMC campus is complete!

The Neighborhood

How can a 1,300-student college offer over 2,300 classes, more than 250 student clubs and activities, 21 intercollegiate athletic teams, and a library with more than 2.5 million books? Here’s how it works: Claremont McKenna College sits among the intellectually-stimulating, socially-fulfilling, seven-college community known as The Claremont Colleges, a system modeled after England’s Oxford University. Five undergraduate schools and two graduate institutions are located within one square mile. Our consortium gives students the opportunities of a much larger university, without sacrificing the advantages that a small-college environment provides. Over 5,000 undergraduate students take classes, eat in dining hall facilities, mingle at parties, attend dances and concerts, and join college organizations. In short, you’ll take advantage of an extensive array of intellectual, academic, social, and athletic resources, all while enjoying the intimate and warm atmosphere of CMC itself.

Claremont, U.S.A

It may not feel like Middle America in the middle of winter—when the sun is shining and you’re striding across campus in shorts and a T-shirt— but, Claremont shares a lot with those old hometowns, thanks to our city founders: hardworking, optimistic folks from the East Coast and Midwest, who brought their rock-solid values along with them when they moved west. Virtually every student calls Claremont home: 97 percent of CMCers reside in our on-campus residence halls and apartments—which means there’s plenty of life right here. You’ll stroll down to the Village, Claremont’s town center, where restaurants, shops, and cafés abound. You’ll drive with friends to nearby malls and cinemas. And you’ll venture into L.A.—by car or Metrolink train— to explore its urban wonders. But you’ll always call Claremont home.

Eats
