Referrals to Mental Health Providers

Students are granted eight free sessions at Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services over the course of the academic year.* Some students may find short-term therapy to be adequate while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. In these cases, we may recommend locating a local provider in the Claremont or surrounding area.

Students interested in seeing a therapist off-campus may use this local therapist list (if you are unable to access this PDF and would like a list of providers, please email jneilson@cmc.edu). For assistance with this process, students may request a meeting with the case manager at Monsour or the case manager at CMC (jneilson@cmc.edu). Staff can work with students on identifying potential therapists in the surrounding area that may meet a range of criteria set forth by the student (ie. insurance, location, expertise in presenting symptoms, preferences around gender, race and ethnicity). There are many local resources and treatment providers in the Claremont area. Please note, it is the responsibility of the student, and not Claremont McKenna College, to evaluate any treatment provider to support the student’s success.

In addition to the options above, CMC has a limited number of sessions available with contracted therapists located on the second floor of Heggblade Center, across from the CARE Center. For questions or to schedule an appointment, please contact counseling@cmc.edu

*Students are encouraged to schedule therapy and/or psychiatric appointments as soon as possible at the beginning of the semester, as appointments tend to fill up quickly [information about the next New Student hour is available online].
