Randall Lewis is a visionary, innovator and philanthropist whose business success and commitment to health, education and quality of living have made him one of the most respected community builders in the United States.
A 1973 graduate of Claremont McKenna College and a devoted supporter of the Claremont Colleges, Randall has long envisioned a center that would inspire future generations to pick up on the life-changing experiences he had while taking three graduate courses on innovation and entrepreneurship from the legendary Peter Drucker. With his support, the Randall Lewis Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship became a reality in 2020.
“This center is a dream come true for me,” he says. “It belongs to the school, the students, faculty, alumni and so many others, and I am proud to have an opportunity to support the great work that’s being done at CMC to help deal with some of society’s larger challenges.”
While the center is new, Randall’s impact on the Claremont community, the Inland Empire and Southern California is decades long. As Executive Vice President and a Principal of Lewis Management Corp., he and his brothers—Richard, Robert and Roger—have grown a homebuilding company founded by their parents into one of the largest and most influential development and property management companies in the West.
Today, the Lewis Group of Companies is a leader in developing master-planned communities, owns more than 11,000 apartments, controls land for more than 30,000 future homes and apartments, owns and manages OVER 30 25 shopping centers, and is one of the largest industrial developers in Southern California.
Randall serves on the Southern California Association of Governments and the Southern California Leadership Council, is a past Trustee of the Urban Land Institute, and is a current Governor of the Urban Land Institute Foundation. He is also the co-chair of the San Bernardino County Alliance for Education, and serves on several executive boards, including the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy and the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs.
In addition to his support of the RLCIE, Randall and his wife, Janell sponsor the Randall Lewis Health Policy Fellowship and the Lewis-San Antonio Hospital Healthy Communities Initiative. Randall and Janell are proud that their three children, Sarah, Riley and Rosie, all graduated from Claremont McKenna.
