About the Rose Institute

The Rose Institute of State and Local Government was founded in 1973 at Claremont McKenna College to provide objective research on the challenges facing state and local governments while maintaining a steady focus on the education and development of its student research assistants.

The Rose Community

For generations, the Rose Institute has maintained a close-knit community among its faculty, staff, students, board members, and alumni. Teams of faculty, staff, and students work collaboratively on the Institute’s research projects, and board members and other alumni mentor students and actively engage in Rose Institute programs.
