The Claremont Autism Center is a clinical, research, and training program dedicated to promoting well-being in autistic* individuals and their families. In operation for over 50 years, the Center is currently under the direction of Dr. Rachel Fenning. Adopting a neurodiversity-affirming and evidence-based approach, we provide best-practice assessment, consultation, and intervention services to neurodiverse individuals and their families.
Director, Rachel M. Fenning, Ph.D.
Dr. Fenning is the Director of the Claremont Autism Center and a Professor of Psychological Science at Claremont McKenna College. She is a licensed clinical psychologist with particular expertise in assessment and intervention for individuals with neurodevelopmental differences, including autism. Her research examines child and family contributions to the development of children with autism and related intellectual and developmental disabilities, with an emphasis on parenting, emotion regulation, and clinical outcomes. Dr. Fenning also develops and tests interventions designed to promote physical health, adaptive behavior, and well-being in autistic children and their families. Her work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Health Resources and Services Administration. She is the current Past-President of Division 33 (IDD/ASD) of the American Psychological Association, and she serves on the Editorial Board of Psychological Assessment and Research on Child and Adolescent Psychopathology.
Post-Doctoral Fellow, Jacquelyn M. Moffitt, Ph.D.
Dr. Moffitt is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Claremont Autism Center. She completed a Ph.D. In clinical psychology with an emphasis in children and families. Dr. Moffitt’s research has focused on supporting children with neurodevelopmental differences and their families through understanding emotion regulation experiences and family-focused supportive interventions. Her research has also explored the application of machine learning to the assessment of ASD. At the Claremont Autism Center, Dr. Moffitt provides evidence-based support and intervention services to autistic individuals and their families through group and individual or family programs.
