Experimental Economics Lab

The Lowe Institute’s Experimental Economics Lab (XLab) uses controlled experiments and real-world field studies to investigate how people make economic decisions and how those decisions shape outcomes in workplaces, markets, and other social settings.

Working with Professor Jeff Flory, XLab RAs gain hands-on experience designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, testing economic theories, and translating findings into meaningful insights. The lab uses randomized experiments and other empirical methods to study questions involving communication, productivity, teamwork, incentives, decision-making, and public policy.

The lab connects economic theory with real-world behavior, giving students the opportunity to participate in research at the frontier of experimental economics while developing skills in research design, statistical analysis, and data visualization.
