Writing Lab

What is Writing Lab?

Writing Lab is an AI-free, community writing space hosted by the CWPD, designed to help you focus, make progress, and stay accountable. Grounded in the idea of “body doubling,” it offers a shared environment where working alongside others can boost productivity and sustain momentum. Whether you’re starting a draft, revising, or simply trying to build a consistent writing habit, Writing Lab provides a low-pressure space to show up and get work done. There’s no formal instruction—just a dedicated time and place to write in the company of your peers. Drop in, settle in, and let the collective energy of the room carry you forward.

Hours and Location

Writing Lab can be found in RDSC Room 134 (Barker Classroom)

Sunday and Tuesdays from 6 - 10 pm and Fridays from 2 - 5 pm

How is this different from other study spaces?

Unlike traditional study spaces, Writing Lab is intentionally designed for writing and focus rather than multitasking or passive studying. It creates a structured sense of accountability through shared presence, where everyone in the room is working toward a similar goal. The AI-free environment encourages you to engage directly with your own thinking and writing process. With fewer distractions and a clear purpose, Writing Lab helps you move from intention to actual progress.
